Here is a Bill of Rights for AUTHENTIC WOMANHOOD:

Ready and waiting to be reclaimed:

1) You have the right to be treasured, honored, cherished and respected for who you are as a whole person; mind, body and soul

2) You have the right to fidelity in relationships and freedom in fecundity through marital acts of mature, committed and mutual love.

3) You have the right to embrace and affirm the deepest desires of your heart which are placed there by your Creator.

4) You have the right to spiritual freedom and fulfillment.

5) You have the right to be viewed and accepted by yourself and others as a whole and complex human being who is more than the sum of your body parts.

6) You have the right to life, liberty, dignity and the pursuit of true and authentic happiness.

All of these rights can and will be realized and actualized through the exercise of a morally coherent, responsible intellect and will that is aligned with the highest wisdom available to us through our Creator.

Strive for these rights in that context and you will not only change your life and the lives of the women and girls that are around you but you will change the world for the better for all—and that is your true purpose… that is the Truth, the beauty, the mystery and the power of being a fully awake and authentically free woman.

This combination of drugs, RU-486 and Cottek touted as a means to increase our freedom from abortions, is leading to the unfathomable suffering and death of women and girls. It’s unacceptable and heinous. Even so called feminists are outraged by the horrific side –effects and have demanded the removal of RU-486 from the marketplace due to unacceptable levels of risk to the health and safety of women. They asserted that “It becomes clear that complications, such as bleeding and pain, are often evaluated differently by researchers than by women themselves.” [p. 41] They pointed out that all of the studies found that women experienced pain, but they downplayed the significance of it by categorizing it as “mild to moderate.” “The unarticulated message about pain in many of these studies is that female pain is expected....pain that would be unnatural/intolerable for men is natural/tolerable for women.” [p. 43] http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/whatisru486.htm

Immediate risks of RU-486 include prolonged heavy bleeding, commonly called hemorrhaging, (9% bleed over 30 days, 1% for over 60 days), nausea, extreme cramping, headache, diarrhea, skin rash, allergic reaction and vomiting. And remember, there is NO medical oversight or follow up treatment to these abortions. They happen at home, where women and girls are left hurting, alone and scared, with no medical recourse. If this is the replacement for so-called back alley abortions—then we haven’t come very far in championing the rights of women or improving the quality of their so-called healthcare, have we?

What are we thinking? Really, don’t you think we can do better than this? Deep down, don’t you want better than this? The cost of living this way- of selling out to society has been so high for us. We have lost our way. We’ve lost ourselves and we are losing our children, one third of them to abortion and the rest of them to the self-centered, self-destructive culture that is hell-bent on undermining the dignity and deepest gifts of women.

UPDATE: And now a male New York state judge has made this chemical available over the counter without prescription or permission for underaged GIRLS!!!!

Women, we need to wake up to our REAL rights. Rights that will restore our dignity, health  and well being.

Why are we not taking seriously that 80% of the seventy-two epidemiological studies that have been conducted since 1957 indicate that abortion increases breast cancer risk? (http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/The_Link.htm)...

Ask yourself why the incidence of cancer climbed 40% in the last quarter of the 20th Century (since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in the United States in 1973), while the incidence for all other cancers has either remained the same or declined. We look the other way because it is easier for us to allow ourselves to be misled than to face the awful truth of what we are doing to ourselves. But ignorance is not an excuse and women have the right to know the real risks of what happens to their bodies when a pregnancy is terminated, unnaturally and artificially, resulting in the death and demise of an unborn baby.

Ladies,

It is one thing to not take responsibility for our actions, that’s a mistake

And by allowing the selfishness of our culture to dictate our lives and permeate our souls; we are certainly in grave error

But when we seek out, promote, demand, assist or actively participate in the invasion of our own wombs for the purpose of eradicating the life therein, we are destroying our children for the sake of ourselves. And that’s incomprehensible and inexcusable.

Confusion is not an excuse. Theological squabbles about when life begins or the quest for scientific definitions of conception are unnecessary and merely serve as smokescreens and distractions. It doesn’t matter what words we use or don’t use; the euphemism du jour just doesn’t matter because all you have to do is walk up to any six year old little girl and try to explain to her what an abortion is and she will set you straight.

She will squinch up her little nose, put her tiny hand on her hips, she will look you straight in the eye and ask you without hesitation or apology:

“Why would a Mommy want to kill her own baby?”

Why, indeed.

There’s a very famous piece of propaganda making the rounds again this political season. It goes something like this: “We want to make abortions rare, safe and legal.” One of the ways to achieve this they say, is to offer contraceptives on demand for women and children and to make them available to everyone through a public policy mandate by the reclassification of contraceptives as a form of healthcare. This seems to have happened all rather quickly, quietly and smoothly except for the Catholic Church and every other major religious community who all happen object to contraceptives on moral and religious grounds.

Ladies WAKE UP!! There is a very slippery slope from a government that “makes contraception available to everyone who wants it”, disregarding religious objectors, to a government that demands that women take contraceptives for the good of the country. Just ask the women of China. Your outrage will not save you anymore than it saved the women in Africa, Bangladesh, India and the like. . Let’s face it, they are all still living in “the third world” and no amount of unlimited supply of contraceptives seems to be changing that fact.

Somewhere along the lines we swallowed hook, line and sinker that contraceptives and abortifaceants are not harmful to us; that there are no physical or emotional consequences to consuming chemicals that directly interrupt or reverse the natural course of our reproductive systems and effect nearly every area of our bodies. Steriod use is banned for young boys and athletes around the world but we promote even more powerful and dangerous ones for girls and women to suppress their reproductive systems so that they can freely satisfy the sexual needs of their various partners. In fact these chemicals are so dangerous that the World Health Organization has classified some oral contraceptives as class one carcinogens. Even the so-called lower dose oral contraceptives such as Yaz are now the subject of lawyer’s commercials all over the TV screen in nearly every state urging women to sue because of their direct cause of strokes and premature death .

And we still clamor for our contraceptives. We demand the right to ingest them, have them paid for by the government and give them to our children without caution. WOMEN WAKE UP. Why do we accept these threats to our well-being, health and safety? Why are we not demanding that these products be taken off the market? Instead we are seeking even more destructive, self-mutilating procedures and pills that cause abortions without physician oversight or medical follow up such as the horror that is known as RU-486....

• Today, in the next 24 hours, 12,000 teenagers will contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD). And that's just teenagers. Looking at the entire population, there are about 50,000 people each day in our country who contract a sexually transmitted disease.

If you think that this acceptable, then I respectfully submit that there might be something very wrong with you. Planned Parenthood’s answer is to have more sex but with condemns. However, I suggest that you don’t get them from there because the quality of the ones they peddle for free on street corners and in schools has been suspect for years and ladies, this state of affairs is nothing short of disgusting and gross. This is the price that we are paying for our so-called sexual freedom and equality.

The statistics for teens are startling and sad. As a group, it seems they have come to accept STD’s as a normal course, a necessary part of what it means to “come of age” in our country. Because they are young and can only see the immediate situation in front of them, they have no clue about the life-long consequences of contracting an STD: infertility, chronic inflammatory disease and vulnerability to gynecological cancers, to name a few.

The truth is that protected or not- sex without love and marriage STINKS!

We trick ourselves into doing it because everyone and society as a whole tells us that we should like it that way. But you know it and I know it… in the deepest darkest, hidden corner of our hearts, we shed a tiny tear of shame every time we engage in recreational sex with a partner that has absolutely NO intention of offering us genuine, committed, mature, selfless love in the morning. And we can’t help it, because, as Lady Gaga says… we were Born THIS WAY.

That’s the beauty and mystery of women. It’s written on our souls. Little girls know it, but they forget it or worse yet they are coerced out of the knowledge that we desire and long to be cherished and special to someone special. When we give of ourselves, we cannot separate our bodies from our souls. It’s that simple. Our hearts were not made to endure countless empty physically driven, alcoholically fueled encounters that leave us alone and separated from our deepest desires.

Yet, instead of dealing with this pain, we have gone on the offensive. We flaunt our promiscuity and call it freedom … we toss away our dignity like yesterday’s news and do everything we can to deny and discard the consequences of our actions… and the greatest and certainly the most obvious and inevitable consequence of these actions is… motherhood.

But we don’t call it that… especially when we don’t want to be mothers. Even when we repeatedly, habitually or perhaps even addictively engage in activity that is expressly designed to make us mothers- we choose to obfuscate ourselves from the very real fact that every time we have sex, we are potentially creating a life that is a human child.

And once that life is created, no matter how new or tiny it may be- that life becomes our responsibility and it is our singular obligation to protect it.

Women from every generation since the beginning of time have known this. Why don’t we?

Because women in these very recent times have allowed themselves to become so intellectually bamboozled and emotionally disconnected from the truth that rests at the core of their being: that we are killing the flesh of our flesh. And in doing so we are not only killing our babies, we are destroying ourselves.

Children have a right to remain children and young girls have a right to their innocence. Not only do they deserve to have those rights preserved but they need that period of innocence to grow up to become healthy, whole and well adjusted women. When 8 to 12 year olds are preoccupied with having sex or having children of their own, they become stunted in their psychological and developmental growth. They are not free to explore and develop their unique identities or grow emotionally and naturally as generations of girls who have gone before them.

I think of it as the Laura Ingalls Wilder period of life. Some psychologists call it the “latency period” but whatever you call it, it is that season of life when pink hearts and puppy dogs, sugar and spice and everything nice reigns. It’s that necessary phase of development before puberty when a child consolidates her character by being engaged in friendships, hobbies and age appropriate discoveries of self that can’t be replicated or replaced and should never be reduced by a sexualized culture that strips her of her innocence far too soon.

You can call me unrealistic, naïve, old fashioned or just plain stupid, ( I’ve been called them all) but when we buy into the cultural expectation of preoccupation with sex by our daughters at this tender age; when we encourage sex education for them in our schools; when we insist that 9 year olds be “vaccinated” against a condition that is ONLY contracted through a sexually promiscuous lifestyle and when we ignore the impact of media images and introduce products that promote the erasure of this entire age of innocence from our daughter’s experience, we do so at their own peril.

We are told and have bought into the idea that mother daughter bonding at this age is accomplished best through a visit to the local Planned Parenthood to obtain her first toxic does of synthetic hormones that will forever alter the natural genius of her reproductive system and set her up to be vulnerable to a host of physical and behavioral risks that could cause her life-long detriment ( if they don’t end it prematurely.) This is not only nonsense- it’s irresponsible and dangerous. More on contraceptives later.

No matter how much society tries to convince us otherwise; our bodies are sacred and cannot be divorced from our souls, our minds, our intellects or our wills; our personalities, our natures- or our whole human person. Each of us is a unique symphony; a deep mystery and we encounter that mystery and contemplate it in a unique and necessary way during each and every stage of life. I implore you to facilitate this age of discovery for your daughters, granddaughters and every little girl you know.

And what about our minds, ladies? Where have they gone? How is it that we can intelligently entertain the idea that the ability to have an endless parade of sex partners without any hint of an emotional commitment or promise of respect in the morning or otherwise is somehow desirable or advantageous to the cause of women?

This brings us neither freedom nor equality. It has not done a thing to make the lives of women and girls better in this country since day one of the sexual revolution. Sure, it’s become an expectation and a way of life, but no discerning, intelligent, sincere, enlightened, progressive thinking woman could EVER honestly be able to come up with any solid evidence to indicate that sex on demand has done anything but bring more disease, exploitation, disrespect and degradation to women and girls.

Speaking of disease- let’s talk about the sexually transmitted ones...

 Women, Wake Up!

     If your daughter, mother, sister or girlfriend was walking down the street next to you and all of a sudden you noticed that she was about to step in a huge muddy puddle, what would you do? I am quite sure you would warn her, tell her to stop and guide her away from that mess so that she could proceed happily on her way, unscathed. That is what this little volume is all about. It serves to warn, inform and hopefully save you, my beloved sisters, from the decidedly dirty, but more accurately, deadly path that we are on.

     At this time in the history of humanity, it is imperative that women wake up to what is going on around them. It is essential that women understand their true nature and purpose. It is a matter of life; it is a matter of liberty and it is a matter of dignity for all. This is a women’s issue – par excellence; beyond anything that is political, psychological or social. Ladies, we are soul-deep and sinking into the most colossal pit of murky mess that you can imagine, and most of us just don’t even see it coming.

Let me explain.

We, as women, have allowed ourselves to be led into a cesspool of deceit with both feet to the point that we cannot discern the difference between the Truth with a capital T and a pile of you know what. This is because we have bought into the definition of truth as something that each one of us can define for ourselves and have allowed our personal opinions to replace our moral coherence.

Guess what? What we think + what we feel+ what we believe at any given moment DOES NOT = the Truth.

What is real, authentic and true cannot be defined by, discerned or dissected from our culture or current events. What is real, authentic and true can ONLY be discovered when we:

1) embrace and pay attention to what is written on our hearts by our Creator,

2) exercise our genuine rights which are inalienable from the dignity of our person and

3) engage in activity that is self –respecting to the core of our essentially feminine souls.

WOMEN- Who are we?

Who we are as women collectively and who you are as a woman individually is not something that we have to guess at or find out through self-help books, psychological experts or through what the culture dictates at any given time. Who we are as women is both knowable and known to us in the depth of our beings and has been written on our hearts by our Creator. At the same time, who we are as women is also deeply hidden, protected and shrouded in mystery- for good reason.

This paradox is an important spiritual truth that we must come to know and understand and accept lest we go on a fruitless quest that leads to distorted images of self and counterfeit labels that devalue and degrade the very essence of who we are. (Hint: this is what is happening!)

Alas, the mystery and the essential gift of our womanhood is so precious and so exquisite that the anti-creator, aka the deceiver; the destroyer; the thief in the night, has set about to exploit this mystery and twist it, causing confusion and chaos to such a degree that we as women are oblivious to the attack.

We are content with toads (instead of princes) and confusion instead of clarity; we are clamoring for counterfeit rights and equality at all costs. We are accepting, more rightly, demanding exploitation and calling it empowerment. It’s not God’s plan, but it’s playing out every day in every way in the lives of every woman who doesn’t know who she truly is and who she was created to be.

We can probably all agree that each and every woman and girl is made up of mind, body and soul (or spirit). Further, we are probably all on the same page when we conclude that we are more than the sum of our body parts. There is something infinitely deeper, wider and more mysterious to our lives than what we do for a living or what we look like in a mirror. Because we are human, we have inspirations and aspirations; we have thoughts, feelings and self-awareness. We have the ability to be introspective, loving, life-giving and self-sacrificing.

Without knowing who we truly are, we are always at risk of falling prey to the most bizarre ideologies that then become a self-fulfilling prophecy- and our culture wholeheartedly supports this.

Have you noticed that the distinctions between childhood, pre-adolescence, adolescence and adulthood for women have been all but erased? The phases and seasons of life have been blurred and essentially discarded for an overt, across- the-lifespan hyper-sexualization that objectifies, compromises and reduces the complexity and uniqueness of each one of us.

As I stated before, I believe that most of us want to be seen as more than the sum of our body parts but that is really hard to achieve ( and for most men to take us seriously about) when we are exposing to the nth degree every last skin cell that decorum will allow. We are allowing and in fact enabling merchandisers, advertisers, clothing manufactures and pornography kings to push the envelope of decency, giving them all the power to exploit the basest of human appetites for their own monetary gain and personal pleasure. And we are not only letting them do this to us but we are offering up our children, as well.

Now you may think it is cute that your five year old prances around in a skin-tight leopard print bikini with a push-up bra but so does that weird guy that lives around the corner and keeps to himself except on Halloween. WOMEN- WAKE UP! We live in a dangerous world for women and girls of all ages. Our society runs on sex. Sex sells, on TV, on the internet and in print. And more than ever before, members of our society are acting out in sexually violent and explicit ways. This is not a matter of personal taste or moral prudishness—it is a matter that threatens our minds, bodies and souls and those of our children and can lead to the death of all three!!!

If you are not working towards restoring the innocence of young girls and minimizing their exposure to sources of sexualized self-images than you are part of the problem and you are guilty of exploitation- plain and simple. Men will not be taking up this cause anytime soon. It is up to us as women, to reclaim our preciousness and dignity—to protect the gift and mystery of our femininity and to teach our daughters from the day of their birth by example and in word and deed that they are NOT to be used for the gratification of others and that they are more- SO MUCH MORE- than physical receptacles or objects to be leered at; that their innocence and chastity are worth more than all the gold and silver in this world and so are they.

Our Catholic religion was never meant to be convenient. So, if you are finding yourself in the midst of a crowd that can fit their beliefs neatly into the mainstream of the culture, if you look around and everybody believes just like you do and if the hardest thing you do all week is get up early on Sunday to go to Mass, then my friend, I can tell you… you are NOT living a Catholic life.

Furthermore if you interpret the beatitudes as just another of way of saying we have to go along to get along; if you find it easy to make excuses for the lifestyles and choices of others that compromise, better yet completely contradict what your religion has said is right, just, noble and infallibly true, than you are making the mistake that Eve did by declaring that you are just as capable as God of making the rules and knowing what is right or wrong.

If you go through a day, a week or a month with virtually no thought of sin,

If you don’t pay the personal cost for moral coherency in your choices at work, at school or among your circle of friends and acquaintances; meaning if being a Catholic hasn’t caused you even a little discomfort, challenge or stretched you in virtue lately, than you are not living as a Catholic in the world today because:

There is no harder thing in the world right now than to be a Catholic.

How will you replace convenience with conviction?

How will you carry the cross instead of caving to comfort?

What is your plan to stand up and truly be the Catholic you are called to be? By the Body and Blood of Jesus you were meant to stand out in a crowd.

Look around… are you?

There is no other way to say this except to come right out and say it: BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!... In our world, truth is being twisted at warp speed and what is wrong looks right and what looks right...could be very wrong.

There are many false ministries, apostolates and movements afoot in the Catholic Church right now.  Of course, this is nothing new and it was even true at the very beginnings of our Church, as it states in Scripture from 1John 4:1...

"Beloved, do not trust every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

What I have noticed is that often these apostolates are saying all of the right things, seemingly in total obedience to Church teachings... there is no glaring error in the material that is being represented BUT... the behind- the- scenes tactics, motives and personalities are suspect, even evil. 

Before joining or ardently following a group, movement or particular ministry of the Catholic Church, you MUST discern the whole picture of what is behind the words and public actions of the people involved.  We have become far too lenient and easily led into spiritual fads and crazes while  seeking personalities over substance and not testing the SPIRIT of each every teaching and ministry that comes our way.

Here are some quick checks to get you started:

These are red flags  

1) Is the apostolate centered SOLELY  around one particular person?   (If that Person isn't Jesus... then there could be a problem.)

2) Does the apostolate claim to have special information, better devotions or to  be more enlightened than the Catholic Church and its teachings?  Does the apostolate place its own written materials and teachings above the Bible and those of the Church?

3) Does the apostolate or movement encourage secrecy or seperateness from local parish life?

4) Is the apostolate a registered charity with fiscal oversight from an outside source? (Fiduciary transparency is a MUST)

5) Are the people involved humble, virtuous, genuine, faithful Catholics in good standing? Do they consistently seek holiness for themselves and each other ?

Because we are human, we are susceptible to idolatry in all of its forms.  We are ripe for the taking if we are not mature, discerning and careful about who and what we follow.  We are sheep with only ONE Shepherd and our Catholic Faith is fully mysterious and powerfully equipped to form us and support us in our relationship with the Holy Trinity.

Please beware and take heed because

"False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect."  ~ Matthew 24:24

It is hard for us with our limited understanding to accept and trust that when life is hard that God is still very much in control. When we are experiencing tyranny or unfairness or injustice, it is hard to believe that God's loving hand would permit it. 

But St. Therese's words remind us that everthing we experience, every trial and persecution is a gift from God. If we can shift our perspective and hearts to truly embrace this reality, then our lives become infused with grace and a power of love that surpasses our own limits and abilities.

When we receive every circumstance as a gift from God then we move from misery to mystery and from victimhood to victory.

In this life, we are all in the school of humility. Not one of us will graduate because the depths of humility cannot be plumbed this side of heaven.  Jesus is our teacher and we can and should do whatever we can to imitate HIm but the lessons will continue till our dying breath!

I think one of the best ( and littlest) gifts we can give back to God is to stay firmly planted in the classroom of humility- accepting each lesson with patience, joy, peace and all the other fruits of the Holy Spirit that we can muster! 

Lord- please help me to remember that

For the heart that loves...all is well.

Love's Invisible Radiance

There are so many tabernacles on earth where I am, for all intents and purposes,

like one buried, hidden, forgotten, and out of sight. My divine radiance is diminished

because there are so few adorers to act as the receptors of My radiant Eucharistic love

and to extend My radiance through space and into the universe of souls.

Where there is faith in My real presence, there will be adoration;

and where there is adoration, there will also be an efficacious radiance of My presence

drawing souls to My Eucharistic Heart and surrounding them, even at a distance,

with the healing influence of My Eucharistic Face.In those places where I am exposed upon the altar to receive the adoration, the reparation,

and the companionship of My friends -- and, first of all, of My priests --

My radiance is powerful and strong. Faith, adoration, and love act as receptors;

thus is My power drawn out and made effective, invisibly but really, in space and in time.

It was the same with My Sacred Humanity during My life on earth;

the faith and love of My friends drew out the virtue of My Divinity,

and an invisible radiance acted in souls, and upon them, bringing healing, holiness,

and many graces of conversion.When I am adored in a place,

My hidden action upon souls is wonderfully increased.

The place where I am adored becomes a radiant centre

from which love, and life, and light are diffused in a world in the grip of hatred,

and darkness, and death.Chapels of adoration are not mere refuges for the devout.

They are the radiant, pulsating centres of an intense divine activity

that goes beyond the walls of the place where I am adored

to penetrate homes, and schools, and hospitals; to reach even those dark and cold places

wherein souls are enslaved to Satan; to penetrate hearts, heal the infirm,

and call home those who have wandered far from Me.

For these reasons, the work of perpetual adoration, or even of prolonged daily adoration,

is intensely apostolic and supernaturally efficacious. Would that My bishops understood this!

But, alas, they put their trust in human schemes, in plans devised by the worldly-wise,

and in programs drawn-up along shortsighted human principles.

And so they go, and they will continue to go

from failure to failure, and from disillusionment to disillusionment.

I have not set bishops over My flock

to govern, and to teach, and to sanctify, out of their personal abilities

and by making use of the wisdom of this passing world.

I have set them as lights upon a lampstand to shine in every dark place,

and I have equipped them with supernatural gifts and divine power

to accomplish that for which I chose them and set them over My Church.

Woe to those bishopswho trust in purely human solutions to the problems that beset My Church.

They will be grievously disappointed, and many souls will fall away

because they have neglected to take up the supernatural weapons I have prepared for them

in this time of spiritual combat.My presence in the Blessed Sacrament

preached, and confessed, and surrounded by adoration, love, and heartfelt reparation

is the single greatest remedy for the evils that afflict My Church

and for the sorrows that weigh so heavily upon My priests.

My ways are not your ways, nor do I act according to the principles of worldly success.

I act in the silent, humble, hidden reality of My Eucharistic presence.

Adore Me, and the radiance of My Eucharistic Face will begin to change the face of the earth,

even as it heals My priests, calls sinners home to My Heart,

and enlivens the hearts of those grown weary and sad (like the disciples on the road to Emmaus)

with a spark of divine vitality and with the fire of My Eucharistic love.

I speak to you in this way not only for you, beloved friend of My Heart,

but also for those who will receive these words, ponder them,

and out of them draw the inspiration to love Me more generously, more fruitfully, and more joyfully.

I speak to you for the sake of My priests. You will be astonished at the reception given to these words of Mine.

Many souls of priests will be quickened and consoled by them. Many priests will be moved to spend time in the radiance of My Eucharistic Face, and to abide close to My pierced Heart.

This is My desire for them. I want to draw all My priests into the radiance of My Face

and, then, into the sanctuary of My open Heart.
